Should I go WoW?

So... with all this excitement over WoW: Burning Crusades, any advice on someone who is mulling over whether to start playing WoW? A mate of mine who quit playing WoW several months ago gave this rather helpful opinion: "Do not do it".

I do have the internet connection on my side. With the amount of lag between my PC and the wireless router I can see that any sort of online gaming will be a hopeless activity, for now. It will save me a fortune in monthly fees. Still the £1.99 DVD with 14 day trial is awfully tempting, if only to see what the fuss is all about.

And for the first time in my life I have been tempted to get a PSP. And all for Kojima's Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. I probably should wait for the inevitable fixed console port. Unless someone can loan me one over the weekend.

It'd be fun.

Until at one more, you could differentiate between the World of Warcraft and the Real World. Sooner or later, you would eat in game, sleep in game, make love in game, go piss in game.

It happened to me. I skipped lunch, sleep and classes for World of Warcraft.

A year after stopping, I am still having withdrawal symptom.

I can still listen the music of WoW in my head. I still remember how to get from Astranaar to STV.

I quit playing it because it was all recycled fluff. Why waste your time when you can enjoy more single player RPGs?

Never played a MMORPG before, but I do love a good single-player RPG quest. Ordered Dragon Quest recently and FFXII is out soon too. I'm going to be hibernating. ;)

@Richard, you are going to love DQ. Planning on pre-ordering FF XII soon. Just waiting for news on special edition pakcs. A digibox (ala Ico/SotC) would be nice.

@earth, sounds a lot like Second Life. I get bored easily so I think I may pass. And with FF XII coming out next month... how do I fit in the time!

@Anon, All RPGs basically recycle assets. No different from Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Oblivion, Castlevania etc.

HMV has WOW on sale for £10 - the full version, not the trial. I skipped it and bought NWN2 instead. :O

Thanks for the tip. Not that I am planning on getting it soon, if ever. :)

I won't let WoW ruin my life.

WoW its very fun, but to enjoy the BC you need to have a character level 58 at least, or start a new character in the Outlands.

WoW is a very rewarding game and if you have the money to pay it monthly and a good router (Because I play trough a wireless router) start playing and you will have a lot of fun.
